Not Gandhi but good enough

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

Zusha

"When Rabbi Zusha was on his deathbed, his students found him in uncontrollable tears. They tried to comfort him by telling him that he was almost as wise as Moses and as kind as Abraham, so he was sure to be judged positively in Heaven.

He replied, "When I get to Heaven, I will not be asked Why weren't you like Moses, or Why weren't you like Abraham. They will ask, Why weren't you like Zusha?" Why didn't he fully live up to his own potential?".

Much harder to be authentic than intuition may suggest.
But it is implied is that being Zusha was a good thing.
Actually, it would work - probably even more - if being Zusha was not a good thing. That would have been all the more reason to work on it, to improve, to make it worthwhile to live up to being it.

Liberalism

“Liberalism” was coined and first theorised in France in the early 1810s as a result of the French Revolution. It stood for a cluster of principles that the more moderate revolutionaries were fighting for: the rule of law, civil equality, constitutional and representative government and a number of individual rights.
